Two
platforms have been established on which new tests are being developed
continuously, both are based on sequence specific hybridisation following
amplification by PCR.
For single mutation assays, a microplate-based detection
system is applied, whereas for multi-mutation assays, teststrips are
used as „macro-arrays“.
All tests include ready-to use
reagents for sample prep, amplification and mutation detection. Reliable
multiplex amplification protocols provide convenience and allow testing of
samples with very limited volumes. Using the straightforward StripAssay format,
testing for twenty and more mutations may be completed in less than five hours without
costly equipment. Instrumentation is available for automated processing of
StripAssays
External proposals for assay development are welcome and will be carefully evaluated for their feasibility and market potential.
In 2001, ViennaLab and Hoffmann-La Roche signed an Agreement granting ViennaLab
worldwide, non-exclusive rights to manufacture and sell PCR-based diagnostic
tests.
