VIENNALAB - Established innovations in diagnostics

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is an inherited disorder of steroid hormone synthesis. The CAH StripAssay® detects common point mutations, whereas the CAH RealFastCNV Assay identifies copy number variations (CNV) in the CYP21A2 gene in patients with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH).

CAH

  • Severe forms of CAH may cause life-threatening salt-wasting crisis and virilization in newborns
  • Hormone testing has a high false positive rate
  • Appropriate treatment demands early diagnosis
  • The most frequent forms of CAH are caused by mutations in the CYP21A2 gene encoding steroid 21-hydroxylase
